Before moving on to cosmetic dentistry procedures at our Eugene, OR area dental practice, Dr. Stambaugh recommends that you have a comprehensive examination and dental cleaning to ensure you can enjoy optimal results.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening

If you’ve ever tried over-the-counter teeth whitening treatments, you are probably aware that they provide inconsistent results at best. With our take-home whitening system, we create custom trays after taking an impression of your teeth, so they fit your teeth perfectly. This improves the contact between the whitening agent and your teeth so that you can achieve better results. There is also minimal sensitivity because so little of the whitening gel touches the gums.

For teeth with deeper stains that are resistant to whitening, veneers might provide the answer.

Veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain restorations that fit over the front of one tooth when a repair is confined to just that tooth, or they can fit over the teeth that show when you smile. The result is a celebrity-caliber dazzling smile.

Veneers can correct:

  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Uneven spacing between the teeth
  • Discoloration that is resistant to teeth whitening
  • Minor misalignment of teeth
  • Worn, chipped, or otherwise damaged teeth

There are no special considerations for aftercare of your veneers. Regular brushing and flossing plus routine visits to the dentist mean you can enjoy your veneers for many years to come.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns, which are also called “tooth caps,” are a common restoration frequently used to strengthen a tooth that has been compromised by a large filling that has fractured or a tooth that has been treated with a root canal.

Crowns can also be used cosmetically to cover up a tooth that is discolored or misshapen. They are made to blend in with your natural teeth so no one can even tell you have a crown.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

In the past, most dental decay was filled in with amalgam fillings. These gray-colored restorations were effective but not very esthetic given their dark gray color. Tooth-colored fillings blend in seamlessly, so they are virtually undetectable.

The same composite material can also be used to correct small chips, cracks, or gaps between the teeth. Called dental bonding, this is a noninvasive procedure that can fix minor imperfections in your smile in just one appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your smile is a big part of who you are, and with today’s modern cosmetic dentistry, there is no reason to live with a smile you don’t love to show off. Come in for a consultation at our Eugene, OR dental practice, and we can go over your options.

Some of the cosmetic dentistry procedures we offer include:

  • Teeth whitening—This is one of the most common cosmetic dentistry treatments because it is affordable and results happen immediately. You can come in during your lunch hour and leave 60 minutes later with a brighter, whiter smile. You can also opt for our at-home whitening kit to handle the process yourself.
  • Veneers—Able to hide a multitude of dental issues, including gaps, misalignment, chips, and discoloration, veneers provide patients with a celebrity-caliber smile in just a few appointments.
  • Composite fillings—A dental filling repairs a tooth that is decayed or otherwise compromised. Your dentist will drill away the decayed or damaged part of the tooth, clean the area, then fill it. Composite fillings closely match the color of your existing teeth, so they are virtually undetectable.
  • Dental crowns—Although dental crowns are used to repair a damaged tooth or to cap a tooth after a root canal, they are also used cosmetically to cover up a tooth that is stained or misshapen.
